Film looper, mirrors, 16mm film projected onto a surface of salt in a decommissioned industrial elevator shaft
1998

The images, shot in the surroundings of the port of Rotterdam, are projected onto the floor and seen on a surface of white salt. One of the largest ports in the world, objects from all over the globe move through the port of Rotterdam via heavy machinery each day: from animal skins to salt to furniture .  On the days the port is closed, the vast area becomes an empty landscape, used by other inhabitants. All films were hand-processed and colored, and all audio was recorded on site.
